Sometimes, it IS better to vote for the "lesser of two evils."

So is Norm screwed now or what? I heard him on the radio the other day. Just the MN supreme court left. He didn't think the US would take it. He sounded optimistic, but I'm not.

No, we are basically screwed no matter the out come.
I just have no faith in either, but maybe the bright side is that Franken will be entertaining.

About all a court can do is tell all the counties to recount contested ballots. That would be really unpopular, and there are not enough contsted votes not enough to overcome the 325 difference, becasue even the contested votes will come in pretty even between the candidates.
The RNC wants as much delay as possible. That's the reason Norm hasn't packed it in. This will destroy what's left of his electabliity in the future, but he'll get a fat political appointment from Pawlenty for keeping this going.
I'd bet the present US Supreme Court might help with the delay, however. If it goes over a year I think people will demaned legislative changes.
Repbulicans need a credible candidate, not another party hack like Norm. He couldn't beat Jesse Ventura, would not have beat Wellstone and didn't beat Al Franken either.

It's not the contested ballots, but the uncounted and double counted ballots that irk me.
If a precinct has more votes than voters, that should automatically trigger a recount for that precinct, before numbers get reported.
If large stacks of absentee ballots are arbitrarily dismissed, while others are arbitrarily accepted, there are problems.
If a ballot is unreadable, then is copied for later counting, the ballot should be stapled and segregated(per SOP), not separated and put back in the stack for later counting.
I'm not convinced this particular contest came with a lesser evil, but I am absolutely positive that the count was screwed up from the beginning.

The inconsistencies regarding the way each county tabulates ballots bothers me, followed by the irregularities that seem to be easily dismissed by various precincts and counties. I would prefer that the Minnesota Supreme Court start re-counting each and every ballot cast in Minnesota during that election … and to keep that count going until the thought of Stuart Smally isn't totally repugnant to me.

I want to see the folks who decided to include the 133 ballots that don't exist in jail.
