DFL to take advantage of the financial crisis to screw gun owners.

Not "gun control" but revenue enhancement. Only reason for it is that there is a financial crisis and "we need the money."

Raise permit fees to outrageous amount and reintroduce partial discretion. Here's how.

* $100 fee for 5-year OCCUPATIONAL & NEED permits. Sheriff decides who qualifies.

* $500-1000 fee for 5-year PERSONAL PROTECTION permits. Maybe per year payable in advance ($2500-5000). Objective criteria unchanged.

See, it just a revenue measure.

Apparently the DFL thinks that only the wealthy have a right to life and personal defense.

Source please. It seems to me that it would be easy to prove discrimination and also to prove that revenues would drop not increase.

If something like this were to ever be up for actual consideration - count me in for the throng of 'activists' to show up at the capitol with torches and pitch forks.

I believe you as your dedication to our rights is beyond reproach. I would like to get something documented so I can post it on a very popular forum loaded with fudds. Keep us posted and thanks.

I always hate to see the legislature in session.

Here is where we need to use the liberal agenda. We need to make sure that the politicians know that raising the permit fees will be discrimatory against poor people. Do politicians really not care about the welfare of poor people? Do they want to put poor people in danger by raising the fees beyond the poor's ability to pay?

Make those metrocrats look colder and harder than Scrooge the day before Christmas.

Modest proposal for revenue measure: require all POST-licensed persons to maintain a MN Permit to Carry to maintain POST eligibility. Should add a couple of million to the state's coffers every year.

The police unions have pretty much guaranteed that training and license fees are paid by the agencies - or your tax dollars.

Sure. And I think that in this time of stressful budgets, the pain needs to be shared -- just like the wealth, and all -- and I'm sure that could be arranged, if there's sufficient political will.

Anyone want to start a MN Citizen Security Firm? We could have a lot of volunteer security guards!

I'm down. (hopefully we won't need to do this though)

If only there was a word for that. I think it begins with the letter "M".
