Yup. He's weaselling, and since he's had plenty of time to study up on the issue before and after his organization decided to support CSM's gun registration bill, it's fair to conclude that his members have bad motives for supporting CSM's gun registration bill.

I wish I could say I was surprised, but the perfidy of the Minnesota chiefs isn't exactly news.

For the moment, I'm willing to believe it's just ignorance. I have run into a number of cops who don't understand many gun laws because they simply don't need to obey them.

Is it worth trying to contact him to share my observations?

Harlan has testified before committee against the reenacting of the MCPPA in 2005and perhaps other times as well.

It might be ignorance, but not in the way you're describing.

Sounds like you're right Lenny. Probably futile to write him and besides; I don't want to get my name and address on the secret police chief's list of bad people.

I think Dean C may be on the "double secret" (Animal House) list by now.

I think that silence gives consent, and being silent about the Chiefs signing onto the CSM gun registration bill is something we don't want to do.

Agreed; and that being the case I will contact him with my .02

Some Sheriffs, like Rice County Sheriff Richard Cook, are just retyping the latest CSM flyer (without change) onto their office letterhead and sending copies to Legislators.

It is time for a BIG PUSH against HF953/SF1165.
Call, write, and e-mail legislators NOW.
