THANK YOU. polite but insistent and not accepting the BS excuses. Well done. Now we need several other people to do EXACTLY the same thing to reinforce their new understanding.

no, the did not ask for a birth certificate, SSN, passport, etc etc

they did take my Driver's License and photocopied it along with the permit, which I am still wondering about.

Mounds view does that too, I was told it was to provide a photo id to match the permit if it was ever challenged. (identity theft sort of thing.)

Which is idiotic, because a permit to purchase is useless without a picture ID anyhow.

besides, it's not like the SAPD has access to some state system whereby your DL and picture pops up digitally ... Wait a minute ...
