St. Paul attorney to run for Ramsey County position

Star-tribune June 4, 2009

Trial lawyer David T. Schultz has announced that he is running for Ramsey County Attorney in 2010.

Current County Attorney Susan Gaertner, who has served since 1994, is not seeking reelection and is running for governor.

Schultz has been a prosecutor in the state Attorney General's office and a civil trial attorney in that office and in private practice. He lives in St. Paul.

Dave Pinto, an assistant Ramsey County attorney who prosecutes domestic violence cases, also has declared his candidacy. He also lives in St. Paul.

St. Paul City Attorney John Choi has formed an exploratory committee to consider making an official bid for the post.

Choi is the former lobbyist for Citizens for a Safer Minnesota. He is TOTALLY anti-gun. Naturally, he has the backing of the St. Paul DFL establishment. He has virtually ZERO criminal law or criminal trial practice expertise. He is just another anti-gun liberal. Like Howard Orenstein, he is a positive menace who must be beaten.

Any opponent of Choi is a friend of those on this list!

O.k. That, too.

All kidding aside, this guy can't be allowed in.

Well, count me in. I can knock on doors, leaflet, or dial phones.

Let's get one of the other ones on the record on gun rights, then throw our shoulders to the wheel.

Can we get a new sheriff too?

BTW: Mr. Weyandt (commenter from the MinnPost link) is a former St. Paul assistant city attorney who was well known for his hard line stance on gun cases.

Mr. Pinto hasn't been at the county attorney's office for more than a year. That's probably why I can't find on his website how long he has been there.
