LEGISLATORS TO MEET AND GREET AT THE MINNESOTA STATE FAIR
Airport slot machines, medical marijuana, election changes — fairgoers invited to cast ballot on the issues

More than 40 state representatives are scheduled to be available to answer questions and meet with the public at the House of Representatives booth at the Minnesota State Fair.
It has been a long-standing House tradition that members make themselves available at the Great Minnesota Get-Together, which this year is scheduled Aug. 27 to Sept. 7.
Besides visiting with lawmakers, fairgoers can let their opinion be known on a number of state issues by voting in the annual State Fair Poll. This year's questions cover such topics as funding for a Vikings' stadium, unallotment, medical marijuana, early voting and budget cuts versus tax increases.
Although not scientific, ballot results give a heads up to what Minnesotans think about some high-profile issues. A list of this year’s poll questions will be available on the House Web site, www.house.mn, beginning Aug. 27 and poll results should be available on the site Sept. 8.
The booth will be stocked with information introducing fairgoers to state government and to help them better understand the legislative process.
The exhibit will be located in the northeast corner of the Education Building on Cosgrove Street just north of Dan Patch Avenue.
