Several of the usual suspects, Nora Slawik, Chuck Wiger, and Leon Lillie are having a Town Hall meeting:

Saturday, January 20, 2005
9:00 am - 11:00 am
Oakdale City Hall, Hadley Room
1584 Hadley Avenue North, Oakdale

For more information, please contact Rep. Nora Slawik
at 651-296-7807; Rep. Leon Lillie at 651-296-1188;
or Senator Chuck Wiger at 651-296-6820

I plan on being there to see if I can pin Nora down on a question that I asked her 2 years ago. To wit: If the "sole purpose" of 'eeevil assault weapons' is to "kill the most number of people in the shortest amount of time possible" why do some police departments (Cloquet, to name just one) carry them in their patrol cars?

And just so I am perfectly clear, since the meeting is taking place in City Hall, they can not ban guns, correct?

They are each different. We should expolit that.

Slawik is vigorously anti-gun.

Wiger is weak and will follow the Senate DFL leadership's instructions.
He'll say whatever he thinks his audience wants to hear.

Leon Lillie, IIRC sent in a good candidate questionaire and received a "B+" grade. He voted for the 2005 MPPA. He should be cultivated.

Brooklyn Center has short-barreled MP5's in their squads.

I just watched this complete and utter BS. I have wasted over a half hour listening to deception and twisted facts!!!! WOW! They crossed SEMI-auto "assault" rifles with fully automatic ones many, many times. I couldn't believe the crap they spewed out on Chaska local TV.

The problem is, people believe this stuff and run with it. I couldn't believe they had guests on there that was only for the one side of the "gun ban."

I would rant more, but the video was way too long to remember all the BS. So the cops that were shot by a "assault" rifle were shot during the "assault" gun ban of '94 right? How did the perps get these during a gun ban? Those guns are illegal right?

My blood boils! :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

sorry for venting.

Willmar PD has full-auto M-16s. Not 3-round burst fire; full rock 'n roll automatic.

Same for me. If I can get enough done tonight, I won't need to go to work Saturday and will attend. I'll be the one without a gun. Still trying to get class worked into my schedule.

I will be there if I can find it. I will have a video camera and audio recorder.

I will be dressed nicely and have sun glasses on my head.

Oh and why are they doing this at the location? Are they residents ad what to keep their children safe? Crime problems?

Or do I just have to wait to find out?

Cloquet has never carried their MP5's in the squads. Up until a few years ago they only carried 870's. Just recently they sold a '39 navy thompson sub gun and got enough money to put semi-auto M4's in the squads. No they can go for a shot gun or a rifle dependening upon what they need.

Side bar, they had an guy over a month ago take a few shots at one of the officers with an AK. the CPD officer came within inches of taking a round, the squad he was in had a few holes in it. Luckly for the tax payers of the state the shooter ended up turning the AK on himself.
