MINNEAPOLIS -- Presidential candidate John McCain says Tim Pawlenty has "a very big place" in the Republican Party's future. But McCain is not saying whether he's considering Minnesota's governor as a running mate.

McCain says he's not naming potential running mates, and does not have a short list. But he's praising Pawlenty for sticking with him when his chances didn't look good during the primaries.

He also says Pawlenty has shown that a Republican can win in Minnesota, which hasn't supported a Republican presidential candidate since 1972.

McCain says he's the underdog in Minnesota, but he intends to fight hard for the state's 10 electoral votes.

McCain spoke with Pawlenty sitting next to him on his bus from the airport to downtown Minneapolis for a fundraiser.

Would this be a good thing for us or not?

Given Pawlenty's track record on reneging on promises to the pro-carry community along with McCain's own history of just doing whatever he feels like, he (and McCain) can't be trusted on anything gun-related that isn't in writing, and maybe not even then.

Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of choices in November.

Pawlenty did sign the bill twice when he didn't have to.

Yes he did and for that I'm thankful.

I think he could have pushed the reciprocity through without a lot of backlash from the new Democrat takeover in the last election. Apparently he didn't want to make waves when he was up to his nose in $hit after a close re-election.

Did anyone watch the town meeting?

Not picking on Mary, because I really, really like her, (personally) but she could not sit still, Either the dress was too short or had a mind of its own but she was having a fit trying to keep the attention on McCain and not on her own "brittany" moment.

If only the Republican Party had a future, that'd be something...

It's going to be a long eight years.

"McCain: Pawlenty has big future in Republican Party"

A better question is, "Does McCain have any kind of future, at all?"

T-Paw's shot at VP is that of the proverbial Minnesota snowball's in perdition, remembering that it is July.

First, he'd have to get nominated, unlikely, since he can't be counted on to add Minnesota's electoral votes to McCain's total on election day, and second, he and McCain would have to win, a prospect looking more and more unlikely by the day.

Watch closely. We may well be witness to the worst-run Presidential campaign since 1968.

If.... if T-Paw were selected to fill the VP slot, what are the odds the MSM would do a 'man on the street" interview with an individual wearing a "slow rolled" t-shirt?

Uh McCain gets to select his running mate. Now technically if three (I think...maybe four) states delegation at the national convention appeal that decision, the delegates can pick a running mate for McCain. But the likelihood of that happening is....well, the liklihood of McCain winning Minnesota in the first place.

Although I will agree with you on the worst-run. Although I'm a bit biased, because like I've said before....regardless of how November turns out, I'm probably gonna be pissed off either way.

We could do worse than TP. Look at some of the dandys on the list for Obama's VP. Two of the worst anti-gunners, Jack Reed and Joe Biden are on his list.

Why would anyone assume that if B Husein Obama gets elected, he would last 2 terms? This is going to be an interesting election. Conservatives are out of the mix. Whoever gets in we're pretty much screwed. It's just a matter of how screwed and for how long. On a brighter note it will be fun to watch the MSM turn on B Husien when it becomes evident to them that they've been worshiping the golden calf.
