SAN FRANCISCO — A car burglary suspect plunged 200 feet to his death after he jumped over a wall on San Francisco's Telegraph Hill while trying to flee from police, authorities said.

The unidentified man died early Thursday after police say they received a report that someone was breaking into cars on a city block near Coit Tower.

Authorities say they attempted to arrest the suspect after they saw him getting out of a car. But the suspect ran and jumped over a wall — apparently without realizing there was a steep drop.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man was a suspect in two burglaries.

I'm sure relatives will tell us how he was just starting to turn his life around and that possibly he could have gone on to be a track and field star in the hurdles.

I'm visualizing Willie Coyote going over the edge, pausing in mid-air to look into the camera, then plunging down with contrail swirls and bulging eyes. Sorry the guy's dead though.

kind of makes you wonder if he thought on the way down "maybe I shouldn't be a thief..." can't say for sure his life would have been better if he'd been more law-abiding - but at least it probably would have been LONGER! kind of learning your lesson the hard way though. do feel sorry for his family. hopefully there aren't any kids that won't have a Dad now.

If this asshat was a dad, the kids are better off without him; really.
