Quote:
One hundred young footballers have taken part in a tournament in memory of Leeds anti-gun campaigner Pat Regan who was stabbed to death.

Mother-of-six Mrs Regan, 53, was found dead at a property in the Hyde Park area in May. Her grandson Rakeim Regan, 20, has been charged with murder.

Her campaign against gun crime started after her son Danny, 25, was shot dead in 2002 in Merseyside.

Her son Shane Fenton attended the Archway Trophy tournament.

Mrs Regan had been a high-profile spokeswoman against gun crime and met government officials to discuss how to tackle the problems of guns and gang-related crime.

Football tournament organiser Pervas Ahmed said the event was intended to raise awareness of the growing weapons culture.

"Pat was well known, admired and liked by the young people and staff at Archway.

"The message that we want to reiterate is that life is something to be valued and that there is support out there for young people if they need to talk to someone."
