Post subject:  Lindy hopping and carrying?

So, I just got my permit to carry here yesterday. Super happy about that!!
Anyways, I'm huge into lindy hopping, east coast swing, charleston, and blues.
Here is a good example of lindy:

So, any good ideas about concealing a pistol? Holster ideas? (I will have a Ruger SP 101 2" and a Kel Tek P3AT at my disposal)

A few things, It needs to stay off my belt. Pocket carry is o.k. but if it's on the belt the woman (follow) is going to get a nice surprise when she goes to grab my right hip. Shoulder holster is out because of movement restriction and I don't wear a jacket when dancing. Leg holster would be okay but I would think that it might get in the way of dancing.

So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Small frame auto like the Kel-Tec P3AT / Ruger LCP (both .380 ACP) in a pocket holster...

Gonna be on Dancing with the Stars soon?

frankly, i would think this would be one time when you did not carry, do you have a changing room? or else locking it in the car.

When I play hockey, I am not carrying, but the gun is secured. I am not the only one, several others arrive carrying. but we don't carry while playing, I would say the same would apply here.

I have to reluctantly agree here. This is a problem I hadn't thought about before, because I never dance when I am sober.

I'm one of the few that doesn't drink at all when I go dancing.
The place I go to is called the tapestry and its in Minneapolis. Coming out of there at 1:30 at night with nothing isn't exactly a nice feeling.

I hear ya, I used to live a few blocks from there. Sounds like the Kel Tec in a pocket holster is the way to go. Unless you're gigantic enough to pocket carry the SP101. :)

Tapestry rocks! I love dancing there but haven't been in forever . . . . or since the birth of my child  Yeah, that place is decent enough I'd probably go the lock it (ideally a pistol safe) in the car route.

My son uses a comp-tac tuckable when he goes the tapestry, but his wife knows he is carrying....
How about a cross draw tuckable on the left hip. Youre holding the lady's right hand most of the time, right?

Lindy is a free dance so no matter where I put it on a belt she may feel it. I'm thinking the pocket holster is the best way to go for right now...

BTW a little plug for TC swing while I'm at it.

First Thursday of every month is beginners lindy. Starts at 8:00 and runs till 9:30. Then dancing starts at 10:00 and stops at 2:00AM. Price IIRC (I get a student discount) is like seven dollars for an adult not in school. It is a great place to meet a bunch of amazing people and we need a little extra cash too. It is currently in a 25,000$ deficit for next year and we are trying to raise as much money as possible to keep this wonderful little spot going.

So,
Come swing dancing! Your bound to love it! (Guys, if your worried about how you might feel about dancing PM me and I will answer any question you want. I'm next years president of the St. Cloud State Swing Dance Club and I'm sure I can answer them!)

Hm. Back when that was the prevalent style of dance and dress there were pretty much two choices - big gun in a shoulder holster or a small gun in the pocket.

I'd go for a small gun in the pocket, although my aesthetic sensibility tells me a vertical shoulder rig with a 1911 a la Last Man Standing would be perfect. It would have to be a very gun-friendly dance party, though. :)

OK, now that I got that out of my system...

Pocket carry might be a touch uncomfortable because of the pocket moving around and rubbing. You want something that is firmly affixed.

I can't really think of anything aside from a bra-like contraption that is essentially a belly band with shoulder straps. My dad has one.
