How many of you guys have broken a holster clip?

I'm on my second one. I don't remember anyone really saying anything about this before. I'm not sure why, but it's the same clip. Can anyone recommend a shop that carrys multiple kinds of clips so I can maybe find something stronger, better, or just a replacement?

I've never broken a clip but I've heard of people doing so. Tandy sells some metal clips but not a wide variety.

Is it breaking when you take it off or due to some mway you're moving or snagging, etc?

I know with the kydex clips they recommend moving the clip just enough to take the lip off the bottom of your belt and then lift by the holster to slide it out. Keeps from cranking on the clip or bending it too much.

Once it broke when I was...umm...dropping my drawers to do some of my best reading. The gun was already unholstered and properly layed aside. The second time was as I was removing the holster. I had pulled it appart enough to get the lip around my belt and started to lift the holster when it broke. I didn't think I had that much force on it as I lifted it out.

They are Kydex clips.
Any ideas where I can get some? Anything Local? I'm sure you guys have the same problem, you have one holster you really like...the others are OK to get by with, but feel funny....

can you post a picture or the holster model?

If it uses Comp Tac clips (a surprisingly large number of holster makers do) Comp Tac Victory gear sells their clips. they're NOT cheap at $15 a pair and $7.50 S&H.

Those are Comp Tac Clips. I have a pair in 1.25" and 1.75" you could borrow until your new ones come in.

You should be able to get replacements from the original maker, probably for cheaper than direct from Comp Tac. They offer a dealer discount IIRC.

I'll have to talk to Kevin at KD holsters then. Thanks for the offer to borrow, but I'll just make due till I get the new ones. It should only be a few days.

I have 2 other holsters to make due with for now. One is a cheap Uncle Mikes the other a Ross, FBI Cant holster. Both get the job done, but neither is as comfortable.

For those that may or may not have seen one, the pictures above are of a Cochise Defender. I asked him to add the upper area to it so the ambi-safety doesn't rub into my back.
It functions as an IWB left hand or OWB right hand holster without changing the clip position. I generally use it as a Right hand SOB holster. Very comfortable while I'm at work. Outside of work, all I have to do is change the position to my right side OWB. Just using a Dime I can switch it to Right hand IWB.

I also have had my belt fail. (ok, I got bigger, but not big enough for the next hole) This holster has enough support that both ways I carried it didn't flop around.

Just give Kevin quite a le-way with your order. Great workmanship, but with that comes the additional work. Additional work, additional time.

My next gun, I'll be getting another holster from Kevin.

Mine on my C-TAC are bent open a little, only the back one will stay hooked on my belt. I think I'll take a heatgun to them soon and reshape them a little.

I'm considering ordering some J or C, maybe V clips (the style) for the C-tac if I choose to wear it after I get my new holster today.

Comp Tac also has terrific customer service, you can call and they will send them out super fast.

I'd order a couple just in case.

I had one last winter open up on me like that. I used a little heat and got it back to "normal" but 2 weeks later it broke.

I actually used my space heater and a chip clip. I set the clip on the space heater with the chip clip on it for about an hour. I was hoping to not change the flexible properties of the Kydex, apparently it didn't work.

I have had some cheaper one bend to much on cheaper model holster. I have not been a big fan of plastic clips myself.

Glad your getting some replacements.
