I am one that prefers concealment to open carry 95% of the time. Here is my dilemma. My carry piece is a Sig P225/P6 9MM and I usually carry in a belt side holster under a jacket or sweat shirt. Now with warmer weather on the horizon and the need for layered clothing disappearing, I am looking for concealment suggestions. Purchasing a smaller firearm is just not an option in the foreseeable future.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

IWB holster, 2" larger waist pants/shorts, and thicker cotton T-shirts spring to mind.

Depends on your body style.

I could get away with a full sized 1911 IWB. another guy on this board is rail thin and might have trouble concealing a compact Kahr.

I am 5'11" and go about 165 with a 32" waist.

Not sure IWB would be practical with the Sig.

Do you have to wear a tucked shirt for work? I find that a untucked polo shirt or loose fitting camp or fishing shirt will cover my weapon easily, and yet be acceptable in most surroundings with a OWB holster.

Both my office and most of my clients and vendors are posted gun free zones, so I usually refrain from carrying during the work day. The gun stays in the glove box.

Primarily I am looking for options for when I am out and about on evening and weekends. I usually open carry around the house and when I am in my yard. Right now my best option in untucked polo shirts.

I will probally make a run to Streichers later in the week to take a look at some options for IWB.

A glove box will only slow down a thief for a few seconds. Generally, a sturdy screwdriver is all that's required to pop one open in, at most, 5-10 seconds. If somebody locks a glove box, they have something in it they don't want stolen. I strongly suggest getting a lockbox. There are a few different styles, but an inconvenient lockbox under your seat is MUCH more secure that anything in a glove box.

I'm pretty fond of photographers' vests; I like the good ones even better than the 511 carry vests -- they don't look particularly "gunny." (I got hooked on them back when my oldest was in diapers; it was a much better solution, for me, than a diaper bag.)

I typically resort to an unbuttoned Hawaian style shirt in the summer over a t-shirt. If the wind blows the shirt open - oh well, I'm a casual concealer.

I carry a Sig 229 in a Safariland OWB.

Last summer I started wearing short sleeve Hawaiian type shirts (not floral) and works great for OWB or IWB and is very cool to wear. I wear a t-shirt under it for body protection.

A couple of years ago I picked up some very light blue denim shirts at Walmart for $4.88 a piece. I wear a light tank top type t-shirt and the denim shirt with just the bottom button buttoned if needed.

You might try an IWB holster and the untucked shirt. The best cheapest IWB holster I've found it the Safariland #27. $40
