Is that a promotion which is actually a probationary punishment?

This will be my first post on this forum. I got my permit about a month ago and have been carrying since Monday. I have been reading many of the threads in different catagories, but none of them have prompted me more to pipe up than this one.

When I first heard about this story, it was a quick blurb on the Fox and Friends. I looked for more information on the web after I saw it and and could find almost nothing.

It upset me quite a bit when I saw it the first time, but now that I have the details, I am infuriated. I know most of the details have been hashed out so I won't beat a dead horse that's been severely beaten and bleeding from the eyes and mouth.

Most of us commend the Sam Salter for controlling his actions while at the same time voicing his anger. There is nothing wrong with telling a LEO when they are wrong as long as it is done in the right fashion. This incident contained plenty of fuel for him to act the way that he did. And he did it in a non-threatening way. His hands were fully visible and he did not approach the officer at any time.

The Minneapolis police did themselves a huge disservice for handling this incident with kid gloves. Like the military, the biggest part of their job should be to make sure the law-abiding population is on their side since the BGs will never be.

I would be willing to bet a plebiscite of the people would have this woman tossed on her ass with a severe reprimand in a New York minute. That should be reflected with the brass's actions. Sadly, it will not. And the anger towards police in general will fester by isolated incidents such as this.

One more thought. Considering the overzealous actions of this moron, what would have happened had Mr. Salter had a .45 strapped to his hip. The apologists might be singing a bit of a different tune if Ms. Rindal put a slug in his chest in front of his kids. Does anyone doubt that the lack of restraint shown by this trooper indicates that she wouldn't have?

Not a minor detail - it was the MN State Patrol.

Yup. The MPD would have given her a [long, detailed list of expletives and allusions, some involving unlawful carnal knowledge of farm animals deleted] medal.

WTF? I didn't say all of that. Just the first sentence.

Some moderator apparently hit "edit" rather than "quote." That's not okay; the moderator who made that mistake will fix it. Quoting is okay; editing somebody else's posts isn't.

Probably just a "fat fingers" episode. Happens to me all the time. Not that I disagreed with the sentiment. It was just really odd to see myself saying something I knew I didn't.

Sure. No offense intended, I'm certain; folks make mistakes, and fix them.

At least on this forum they do. In the Minneapolis PD they make mistakes, don't fix them and get medals for valor.
