CUSTER, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Larry Long’s office is reporting that a Denver Police Department officer has been arrested for firing a weapon at two Custer County Sheriff’s Deputies and a South Dakota Highway Patrolman.

According to police reports, on Tuesday the officers attempted to make contact with 31-year-old Kachina McAlexander, after a motel clerk called to report that she may be suicidal.

According to Long’s office, McAlexander answered her door while armed, did not comply when the officers ordered her to drop her weapon and was hit with a Taser. She then fired several shots in the direction of the officers, who were not injured, and surrendered.

McAlexander was arrested on three counts of attempted murder.

I am going out on a limb. I do not see this as a strong career move on her part. YMMV.

:P

I suspect that a great deal of prior methamphetamine use might have been a contributing factor.

Something certainly was going on. I guess I think of "isolated incidents" as having to do with cops doing bad things specifically as cops. Sounds like this person was/is having some serious issues than aren't necessarily connected to LE. She could have been the butcher the baker the candlestick maker. Drug addiction, suicidal thoughts, severe depression, etc. can hit any of us. Prayers for her.
