Part four ran in print today. I haven't read it, but Part One just hit the web. It's really long so I am not going to paste it here. I imagine they are pretty proud of this piece so they'll probably keep it online for a long time.

I have a really, really hard time believing that a cop would sell out his badge, his livelyhood, and his pension - and then risk jail time - for a $100 bribe.
If you look at the results of the investigation, they cleared almost everyone and charged one officer with "tax evasion" on the basis he took two payments totaling $200.
Doesn't sound to me like a strong case.

Doesn't sound to me like a strong case. I, on the other hand, have no trouble believing that. Cops are people too. At least, thats what we are supposed to believe when they want sympathy for some reason. That sword cuts both ways. Some of them are douchebags. Some are good guys. Just like non-cops.

I have a hard time believing that they only caught the one MPD guy for relatively small change. . . and then the U.S. Attny just pulled the plug for altruistic reasons.
Someone somewhere had dirt on someone else and blah, blah, blah. . . . . the cop that would sell out his badge, his livelyhood, and his pension - and then risk jail time - for a pair of $100 bribes, was just a fall guy so the U.S. Attny could shut the case without shutting it empty handed. Not even the tip of the iceberg.
