LOS ANGELES—A former Inglewood police officer was charged Wednesday with pointing a firearm at another motorist on the freeway while driving his children.
Los Angeles County prosecutors said Michael Lewis Robinson, 44, surrendered to the California Highway Patrol Wednesday.

Deputy District Attorney Amy Pellman Pentz said Robinson flashed a gun at another driver on Interstate 405 on March 31, 2008.

Robinson, who was not on duty at the time, had his two children, ages 6 and 11, in his car.

Robinson faces one count of brandishing a firearm at a person in a motor vehicle, two counts of child abuse and a misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing and delaying a peace officer.

Inglewood police spokesman Lt. Mike McBride said Robinson left the department about a month ago after 13 years with the force. He declined to say why or discuss the defendant's record further, citing the privacy of personnel matters.

The district attorney's office did not know if Robinson had an attorney.

If convicted, he faces up to nine years in prison.

Robinson's arraignment was scheduled for May 15.

Sounds like he was a real sweetheart with maybe a “small” anger management issue.

I think there was more going on here than someone just waving a gun around.
