Observation: Could there be a nexus between the closing of the Myth nightclub and the disbanding of the MGSF? Nah! Of course not. Pure coincidence.

I'm still trying to figure out how they racked up $16MM in debt on that place. This would explain it.

No. They all learn to lie and steal at their "parent" police departments. Some do, the others just watch and remain silent. The POLICE originated the "Don't Be Snitchin'" slogan, not any other gang.

These guys were crooks (small scale) and perjurers long before they got to the GSF. They got the attitude that's it's OK for US to do this from their training officers, partners, shift buddies, and they all knew that no one (including all the other cops who did knew) would ever discipline them. It's, unfortunately, the POLICE system in action.

Maybe 5% of cops don't know (being VERY generous) but 100% of those who do, don't tell. That makes all of those cops accomplices. Sorry, but that how it is.

There are, of course, exceptions. Can anyone name one at the GSF besides Omodt?

For sure, no. Reading between the lines, it's likely that one or more of Bean, Loken, and Salminen were/are straight arrows, and possibly Wessels. It's clear that there was a whistleblower other than Omodt; I'm not sure who it is, and, of course, if I was, I wouldn't be outing him.

Your point stands, though. I wish I could disagree with it, but I don't. Ron Ryan, by and large, got the kind of cops that he wanted, and made them even moreso.

What's also true is that the donating agencies got *rid* of the kind of cops that Ryan wanted, and they likely wanted it that way, too. Now, they have to take all these winners *back*...

And they aren't going to be in a good mood either.

A little union support, some good (expensive) lawyering, and they can all join Landen Michael Beard at a Fed post  .

Did that happen? I guessed hat the Feds wouldn't be interested after his incident. But then, I had also heard that the "Fed post" he was after was a Postal Inspector job, so it'd take some creativity to get into real trouble there...

I don't know about that. Postal Inspectors can carry on planes whether on duty or off (I know one). Would you want to be on the same aircraft as Beard?

Does the whistle blower lawsuit against the city of Minneapolis by Sergeant O'Rourke have any merit? Or is it just a smoke and mirriors kind of thing?

The answer is "yes." It's too soon to tell, although there's indicia in his lawyer's interview of both merit and an attempt to get out in front of a problem.

Then why even have this hearing?

You have a hearing to gather information (evidence).

Then you use the evidence to lay blame, point fingers, get indictments and convictions, etc.

Yup. Actually, considering the depth and level of corruption (I'm not afraid to use that word, even if other people are) in this mess, I'm glad that the FBI and US Attorney are handling the "blame game".

Yes. The FBI and DOJ's Public Integrity Sections have a good record.
