Updated: 6:30 pm EDT September 24, 2010
PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- Port Orange police were on the scene of an officer-involved shooting Friday evening.
The victim told WFTV the officer mistakenly shot her while shooting at her dog when it ran toward him. It happened in her yard on Bayridge Lane (see map).
The woman had called police to report that her 6-year-old son had been taken by his father, who shouldn't have him.
The woman was hospitalized after being shot in the leg, but she's expected to be OK. Her dog died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the search was still on Friday evening for the 6-year-old boy.
