These Officers volunteer for SWAT duty, they are not paid extra and, in fact, for each training day they lose their night pay differential so they actually lose income to be on the team.

But they get "paid" somehow or they wouldn't do it.
Perhaps, it's the adrenaline rush.

That is certainly what pops your eyeballs while observing
them on reality shows.

Do we really want people who are chemically habituated
on adrenaline rush in this type of public service work?

However, I can say that the investigation does not focus on the actions of the SWAT team, or individual officers on the team.

So apparently when they, searching for two black men, kept running into Asians and evidence that this was an Asian family's home and kept charging ahead, their conduct should not be considered? And when they handcuffed the mother in front of her kids and neighbors and insulted her in the front yard even after it was proven she was not a threat, that should be ignored as well, or even awarded?

How quickly we forget.

It isn't that they are forgetting. It is called selective memory.

Aren't these the same gang, er, group members, that used a "flash/bang" grenade some years ago that killed one or two innocent elderly persons by causing a fire?

My father, God rest his soul, used to caution about Minneapolis Police fifty years ago. It appears nothing much has changed, and that observation is made with all due respect to all concerned.

When I was on a suburban police civil service commission (for 9 years), it seemed that all (at least, most) of our "personality" rejects wound up on the MPD. They wanted "action" and our suburb wanted peace.

Okay; I was wrong; it is just as bad in the original German. My apologies to Herr Wachtmeister Palmer.

Well, there were the fine examples of policing in Golden Valley, who, upon being informed that a white guy in a van had robbed a bank, jumped-and-thumped the nearest black guy putting oil in his Jag.

Here is what I received from the MPD.

Interestinly enough, I received the exact same response, word for word (except for the salutation, in which they spelled my name wrong). I guess the MPD doesn't care to take the time to actually respond to individual citizens.

Also, someone asked to see my letter, se here it is:
Quote:
Dear Chief Dolan,

Your spokesman is quoted as saying that the S.W.A.T. team in the Vang
Khang raid in December received their awards for "perform[ing] very
bravely under gunfire and ma[king] smart decisions."

I submit to you that Vang Khang himself displayed great courage in
taking up arms to defend his family from what he thought were violent
gang-members. Indeed you could say that he performed exemplary and
heroic acts that exposed him to considerable danger, thus qualifying him
for MPD's Citizen's Award of Valor.

If you do not feel comfortable nominating him, is there a way for me as
an ordinary tax-paying citizen to nominate Mr. Khang for this honor?

I thank-you for your time.

Peace,

Bruce W. Krafft, 3%'er

P.S. - Pay no attention to my e-mail signature, I am sure that 97% of
the 80,000,000 gun owners in the country would not agree with Mr.
Vanderboegh.

Concise by Mike Vanderboegh: "Tell me," I was once asked, "What do you
think about gun control? Give me the short answer." To which I replied,
"If you try to take our firearms we will kill you." The End

For those of you curious about the 3% reference it is something else I have lifted from Mike Vanderboegh. He points out in a couple of his pieces that about 3% of the colonists actively fought against the British during the Revolution.
