Quote: SOLDIERS AND POLICE are supposed to be different. Soldiers are aimed at enemies from outside the country. They are trained to kill those enemies, and their supporters. In fact, “killing people and breaking things” are their main reasons for existence.
Police look inward. They’re supposed to protect their fellow citizens from criminals, and to maintain order with a minimum of force.
It’s the difference between Audie Murphy and Andy Griffith. But nowadays, police are looking, and acting, more like soldiers than cops, with bad consequences. And those who suffer the consequences are usually innocent civilians. * * *

They returned fire, killing her. It’s hard to believe any of this would have happened had the police taken a less aggressive approach in the first place.
I don't know what exactly to feel about this one. I love that a 92 year old woman defended herself, but this really does illustrate the problems with SWAT in general, as well as no-knock warrants.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
It's time for the ability to file "malpractice" lawsuits against police agencies. Most other professional, licensed professions have methods for disciplinary action or allow suits to be filed against improper practice of their skills (e.g. doctors, lawyers, hell, even contractors). Why not police departments?

They could not afford it. Paying the liability would take the entire city budget.
That's why no police department will accept ANY effective outside supervision. E.g., the City of Minneapolis "Citizens Non-Review Board" which is totally useless and deceptive to boot.

I have strong feelings on this issue. It was good to see some good responses from cops and military folk among that sea of Tom Clancy video game wannabe B.S.
