Well, that woke me up this morning! Wow! I wonder about the rest of the story. The guy who bailed at 95mph must have been awfully scared..... Didn't bother the cop though......

Yipes! Shows just how quickly things can go from bad to worse. It also shows how most shootouts don't exactly give you time to get into a stance, obtain a proper sight picture, etc.

Great job by the officers.

I always wonder WTF people are thinking when they try to run from the police like that. How could one guy in a car possibly have a chance against multiple pursuers who are able to coordinate actions over the radio?

Then again, smart people don't steal small with a gun in hand, they steal big with a briefcase.

Actually, when i was a teenager, ditching the cops worked pretty well, quite a few times. It's just they never show on TV when the idiots win.

"Both Sgt. Faulk and the suspect survived."

Another case where the officers should be taken to the range and made to learn to shoot at and hit their target. What were these officers trying to do, scare the perp with gunfire?

Nah, not faulting them in this case.

1) Shooting from behind, with zero clear shot at center mass. Head shots = Hollywood dreams.

2) They DID hit the guy, multiple times from what I read. This is why a good instructor will remind you that this isn't Hollywood. You don't get shot and automatically die.

3) Shooting through glass isn't exactly a great thing. Bullets don't go straight through and continue with same trajectory and same velocity.

+1 to mrokern.

I want to take the class, where I can learn to shoot through steel and glass, and accurately hit targets I can't see, all while being shot at...

Too bad about the suspect living. Sorry to hear that.

Good to hear the officer survived and from the sounds of it wasn't directly shot. That's a big plus.

Leaving the fact that they DID shoot him multiple times aside (Mark covered that), doctors have gotten pretty good with the whole gunshot thing. Assuming you get to a hospital in a timely manner, your chances of survival are pretty damn good. For some reason the 90%+ statistic comes to my head but I can't vouch for that.
