Back in April, turned in the stuff on Tuesday, got it 4 days later on Saturday. Lost my permit about 3 weeks ago, turned in the new paper work, got it about 5 days later. Sheriff Peterson is on top of his game.

Well, that and the less than one permit application per week is hardly overwhelming him. :)

Sure, Sheriff Peterson and his department has nothing better to do. I mean he should have held it for at least 3 weeks if not the full 30 days as the law allows.

I have a different attitude, thank you to all the sheriff departments that issue in a timely manor, and I think 5 days is in that scope.

You may have misunderstood me. I said "that, and...". I was agreeing that he was at the top of his game.

That said, I could forgive a metro department with hundreds of applications for taking several weeks to process them.

Several weeks? Or "a couple" of weeks?

Honestly? If they're busy, and under 30 days, it's hard to have a beef.

That's not uncommon for me.

I can agree whole-heartedly with that.

And it if nothing else he’s one of those that’s not pulling the kind of shenanigans that some others try to justify.

Blue Earth County
Turned in my application in after noon on Monday Oct 27th. Received my plastic card on Friday Oct 31st. The envelope was postmarked on Oct 30th.

The lady at the counter was polite and did not charge me for photocopies. I'm sure I wasn't the only person turning in my application at this time as there were about 25 to 30 people in my class.

I would have to agree with the original poster that Sheriff Brad Peterson is on top of his game.

Now remember that feeling when election time rolls around for him and cut his campaign a check, and ask for yard signs, This is how you repay good public servants by actively working to keep them around.

You're absolutely correct, 1911Fan.
I will participate in trying to get him reelected.

One Sheriff told me that it only takes him two MINUTES to issue a permit. He's proud of his computer prowess.

And he was not a MPPA supporter either. (He still charges the maximum of $100 or $75.)

I think it would be easier to just issue the permit right away and then file the paperwork, just to get everything off the desk.
