I believe campaigns such as this are more personally satisfying than they are effective. Targeted letter writing campaigns on particular issues, and offers of financial and campaign support to candidates who have a track record of supporting second-amendment rights, work better.
The office holder is not going to see the 2x4. His or her staff will throw it away and include a count of the 2x4s in a numerical summary of issues-related mail received.
