Good Morning All.

A little bit about myself. I'm 25. I'm married with one daughter (11 Months). I currently work Security full time. I am attending Century College Full Time nights to obtain a Associates Degree in Law Enforcement. I'm also a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Maplewood.

I'm totally new to handguns. I think its about time to purchase one. I've had my eye on a Ruger SR9. Being that I'm new to the whole handgun thing, I'd like to start with a smaller calliber and then eventually make my way up and get a .45ACP. I would love to get my hands on a Kimber 1911 SIS .45ACP. Still too expensive for me at the moment.. but one day. :)

I want to later get into Armed Security. I've always been interested in that. I'm looking at my first pistol to be a conceal & carry. Another reason is that my apartment doesn't have a controlled access. I want to be able to protect my family if stuff hits the fan.

I joined this site to gain a better knowledge in handguns. Being that I'm a noobie, I don't want my first handgun to be a mistake. I'm sorry about all long post you just read, but I'm just glad to be here.

Have a good one,

Yang

Welcome, and all.

I don't think any of the guns you're talking about is a mistake, but if I can talk you into considering a revolver for your first gun, I'll be a happy guy. Look around; there's been a lot of discussion, over the years, of the whole revolver/semiauto thing.

And, again, welcome!

Thank You Sir. I'll keep that in mind.
