While you'd have to really work at hurting the 642 I have a suggestion that will make you feel better.
Buy another gun, maybe a semi auto or a 22 or whatever trips your trigger and alternate back and forth. Shoot one for a few targets take a breaka and shoot the other.
I take 4-5 to the range every time and have a blast switching it up.
