Quote: a Taurus 9-mm handgun
Probably the only bad idea in the story.

Bad idea in a gun-related story:
"a Hi-Point 9mm handgun..."

I own a Hi Point 9mm. I bought it 3 years ago before I thought about "quality" or "brand name". I bought it for price, warranty and 9mm ammo is cheap. I have even thought about carrying it but it is kind of a brick. I have shot about 2000 rounds through it with the only problem being a few stovepipes early on, a firmer grip took care of that. No other failures and it still shoots a nice pattern at 21 feet. I know some people call them junk but I think it is a reliable pistol and would trust it.

As long as it works, it works. One of my buddies REALLY wants a Hi-Point 9mm, I have no idea of why, and if I should attempt to talk him in or out of it... I've heard they don't last too long, but from what you say, 2000 rounds for the price I can get them for $119, that sure isn't bad.

I have a buddy who has one or more Hi-Points in one of his house access safes. For the price, you'd be able to have a couple locked up but accessible in case of need. Yeah, maybe not for every day carry but for "Oh Shit, my carry gun is upstairs and I came down to get some milk only to find someone kicking in the door", it'd do the job.

Bought one for the same reasons and yes the sumbich is heavy....never had any problems with it. It's the "shop gun" loaded and readily available.

Maybe this would be better debated over in Revolvers & Semi Autos Topic?? Can we get back to the REAL crux of the original post instead of dissing certain brands of handguns??

Hey, as long as you put 2 in the chest and 1 in the head, it does not really matter what brand or caliber of gun you use.
