I recently upgraded my Ultra Carry II to the Ultra CDP II. The new CDP will not chamber the hydra-shok. The .45 doesnt even clear the mag. The nose of the round gets "stuck" making its way up the feed ramp. I have put 400 rounds of ball through the gun without issue. My Ultra Carry II would feed the hydra-shok without issues.

Any thoughts on this?

You might try Federal Expanding Full Metal Jacket ammo.

Kind of raises the question of the exact meaning of the word "upgrade", doesn't it? ;)

The thought had crossed my mind. She still has sex appeal. I just need to find something healthy for her to eat. :o

I don’t know if the little Kimbers have a supported barrel like the little Para-Ordnance’s do. But I’ve seen Hydra-Shoks hang up on the frame by the ramp in a “Hawg”. Resolved it by touching the frame corners by the ramp with a Dremel. Ok, it was an air grinder, but it still worked, it was just scarier. Just because I did it, doesn’t mean you should.

YIKES!
Well, I will try a few other brands before I turn to tools. Maybe I'll call Kimber at some point.
Thanks

I had this same problem with a CZ 2075 in 40 caliber. The opening on the Hydra-shok round was just a little too large to feed dependably. I resolved this issue by using Hornady XTP bullets. I reload so this may not be the alternative for you. I guess I would try a couple of different brands and see if you can find something dependable for your gun.

I shoot Remington Golden Sabers in my 1911's when I am carrying them. This is a great defensive round and feeds just like hardball. What's not to like?

What kind of mags are you using?

I had problems with the Kimber mags n my Pro CDP, no problems with Wilson mags.
