I can't believe how light this thing is! It definately has its advantages for a CCW. I'll wrap it in CT 405's soon and it'll probably ride in another Sparks holster or Mika when I actually live somewhere I can carry. The person who was helping me when I did the background check, said that in WI more and more people are buying handguns and that "They don't care if it's not legal - they just want the opportunity to be able to defend themselves from a violent attack". Anyway, I can't wait to pick it up in a couple of days, and thought I'd share the excitement with all of you!

Oh yeah, the highroad forum and its specific 642 club thread did not help to convince me otherwise with this purchase. :D

plblark - Thanks

Man, I can't decide on the Mika round cut pocket holster.. It is sure not pretty, but from what I gather, it's one of the best functioning pocket holsters out there and inexpensive also. $18.00 shipped.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I don't know when I'll be in that neck of the woods. For $18 shipped I just might get one - I guess he even puts your name on the holster for you. I just like "pretty" leather work for a holster. In reality, nobody will ever see the Mika, so it won't matter what it looks like anyway. There, that is the mindset that I need for this style of pocket holster. Right?... :?

Right.

Mika's work is great. Not pretty, by a long shot. But affordable, solid, and he's great to deal with. I use mine all the time.

Fondling her before you even take her out on a date, shame on you.

Yup. If what one is looking for is a cool holster to impress the babes, pass it up. (In fact, if what one is looking for is a cool holster to impress the babes, pass up any pocket holster; they just don't have any fetish value*.)

On the other hand, if what you're looking for is a rock-solid piece of equipment that gives you some great practical advantages in day-to-day discreet carry, and is sold at a great price by a guy who will deliver it quickly, at an almost preposterously low price, it's hard to see how you can do better than to deal with Bob Mika.

Yup. I like pretty stuff, too, and think the fit and finish of Kevin's and Dave Workman's work is, well, terrific -- and I've nothing but praise for how functional their IWB and OWB stuff is.

That said, there are some very good pocket holsters that also look good -- I like Kevin's Pocket Defender, for example.

Thanks Joel, I'll also look into that version of pocket holster. I've got to get over the "gun leather" image and reconsider what this piece (642) was meant for. Although, a Milt Sparks would still be very nice...
