I like my new Para 1911 Commander style. A lot. In fact, I'm considering it as my primary concealed carry gun. And I'm willing to commit to the extra practice involved in using one of these critters.
In the meantime, I'd be interested to know how many of you use a 1911 for concealed carry.

I have three guns that I carry on different occasions, quite often dictated by the clothes I intend wearing. A PPK, a P7M13 and a 1911 Gov. Model.
I'd say I carry each of them equally about a 1/3 of the time.

I have daily carried:
Rock Island 1911a1 -- No longer own
PT 1911 -- New gun in the safe
For church or etc I generally have the Taurus 85 J-Frame instead.

Just remember, purists might say that a Para is not really a 1911 despite it's appearances.

I think I said somewhere else, that a Para (with the LDA) is arguably one of the safest carry guns.
It has a safety switch, a grip safety, and a long double-action trigger. I think it also has a firing pin transfer bar.

This is the LTC single stack, single action 1911. No special features.

Kimber Pro size almost all the time, if necessary I do have a J-Frame but I like the feel of a 1911.
It is reasonably easy to conceal and packs a nice punch. The key to carrying a true 1911 is being comfortable with condition 1 carry.

I have a glock 27 I've been carrying but more and more I lean towards one of my 1911's. The wife's EMP 1911 is very nice and if I had a spare 1K laying around I'd own one for my self and carry it 100%.

Oh yeah --- the oversized extractor. Now I remember reading something about that in a review. They jammed an empty casing in the chamber really tight and the extractor ripped a chunk out of the rim.
And yes, the condition 1 status is my biggest concern. I've heard about people shooting themselves. Does this happen more often with a 1911?
