Post subject:  New pistol: Springfield EMP

I just got home from the gun shop with my new pistol and have actually shot pictures of it before I have shot it.
I know there are a couple of guys on here with these so there have been pictures but I'll post a couple anyway. I've been reading up on these for the last couple of days and the only complaint I've read is that the magazines don't have witness holes.I can live with this.

I thought they made a great couple.

A decent drill press, a deburring tool and some good measurements and you could make your own witness holes.

I am guessing these are the holes which you can see how many rounds are in the mags?

That's about the only feature that I truly LIKE about Glocks. Their magazines have a witness hole for each round.

My M&P 40C has them for every round after 4. Evens on one side, odd on the other. It's a nice feature.

Now exactly who the hell needs to know if they have an even or odd number of bullets left...............After a gun fight, all you will need to know is how many leaking holes you have in you .............. :P

Well, it's not going to be real important unless you have time to do an administrative reload or two in a running battle with some cover I guess. Then you'd like to reload with the least empty mag as fast as possible.

Personally, it's nice to check if I topped off the mag. When it only shows 10 and 8, I don't know if it needs one or two rounds. With all of them shown (like a glock but different), I have an option. I prefer how it is on the glock with all of them in the same area. I suspect S&W avoided that for appearances :-)

I know, you were kidding :-P

Time for a serious answer since everyone seems to be feeling humorous tonight. I think the EMP is a neat gun and I may put it on my "wish list". I think a short barrel 9mm probably works a lot better than a similar .45.

Let us know how well it works after you have a few thousand rounds downrange.
