I got a p-11 on Saturday from Brad at Discount Gun Dealer in Bloomington for under 250. Just shot it this afternoon, I am happy with it. Nice size.

With the right belt, even a rather heavy all steel gun can be carried well. Start with a good belt.

Dean offers extremely important advice. A GOOD belt is probably as key an element to carry as is a gun you are comfortable with and can shoot accurately. A lesser holster can be used to get you by until you find exactly what works for you over time, but you really must have the belt.

The XD (in all flavors) is a very good gun. Srigs would be a very good place to start looking for a holster. He's local and could probably be very helpful in sorting out what might work for you.

Yup, on all of that. I don't have any difficulty dealing with the weight of even my 629 when I'm using a good belt, although I do rarely carry it. On the other hand, my Model 65 isn't all that much lighter, and that's become a favorite; a retired cop friend of mine has been a good influence on me in that, and other things.

Check out Don Hume holsters. I believe that he is the best bang for the buck. You also don't have to wait for months to get one.I'm also a fan of Galco holsters.

Well, my buddy changed his mind. No matter, I was able to find what I think was a heck of a deal down at 'Cabin Fever' in Victoria last Wednesday. I didn't find the XD9, but instead picked up a Springfield Sub-Compact XD40 for $399 NIB. Little larger caliber than initially planned, but still the 3" barrel, and I've picked up a IWB (cheap one) for now, until I can pick up a nicer one. So thanks for the info, now it's time to hit the range. Anyone know of a good one in the west suburbs?

That's where I sell my guns (consignment) when I want to get rid of one (always to buy a better one). :D :D

The guys out at Cabin Fever are great! If they do not have what you want in stock they will usally get it in less then a week. Jeff the owner is a very nice guy and runs a great business. IMHO :D

Yes he is. And what a tragedy he had to endure. :(

Yes, it truly was. My wife works with his sister-in-law, and we followed what went on with Jeff and his family. It is one of the reasons I chose to purchase my gun there, and plan on making many more purchases after the service I received courtesy of Bob there!
