for me, that feels like a work around and still leaves a mechanical device that could be accidentally engaged and is hard to disengage given the left handed issue.
Possible but not optimal. But then, neither of my carry guns have a safety.
It Took me a while to get there though. I carried the 1911 empty chamber, hammer back, safety on for a week solid before convincing myself the safety didn't get swiped off, the hammer never fell and the trigger never got pulled.

What, you didn't even consider the Taurus PT111?
It offers Kahr quality at Keltec prices (okay, it's a little bigger).
Thanks for the kind words. I think Saturday was one of the most fun classes I've ever taught (mrokern also brought most of his office as fellow students, and they were a great bunch).

Every body talks about carrying little guns, I carry a Gov't or Commander 90% or more of the time, I have had little trouble getting made. In fact, only time I was made to a point of it being uncomfortable was carrying a 26 glock in a good hi ride holster with a suit coat on. as I sat in the chair, the chair arm grabbed the suit coat material and left the gun sitting out plain as day in the space between the seat and arm.
I carry pretty much everywhere, only really taking it off when federally prohibited. (school, airport) and the rest of the time I just let it ride.
I find even the old belt slide holster with the slide running down the leg is almost always invisible to people if just covered with a shirt or sweatshirt.
My favorite current holsters are the Blackhawk gun and spare mag holster all combined riding on a milt sparks belt, (thanks JDR) and my own modified bianchi's. I find that with a polo shirt drapped over the top or a camp shirt no one sees.

Hey, YOU warned us about the Kahr. If you hadn't mentioned it, I probably wouldn't have tried it!
We've still got 70 folks or so at the office, so I'll keep putting butts in seats.
Got in my cab today in Vegas (work, not pleasure, unfortunately), and the cabbie and I got into a discussion. Turns out he just had a DGU last week including having to pull the trigger on 2 armed carjackers. Local law enforcement has actually been pretty good to him, but he's just waiting for the lawsuit. He hit one with his shots, and then ran over the other one with his vehicle. Both lived.

For those of you wondering about the "warning": When I was looking for a smallish gun, I was interested in a Keltec P11. Bill's didn't rent them, so I asked on the Keltec owners group web site, KTOG.org, if anyone in town had one I could try. Jeff Dege (jdege) was kind enough to offer to let me shoot his at his regular league night at Bill's. Well, I tried it, and thought it was pretty jumpy, and had a loooooong trigger. Still, I was getting used to it, and starting to think I might just get one. Jeff then came back and said, "Try this," handing me his Kahr (P9 or PM9, I think). Well, shooting them side by side ruined any chance I had of being content with the much cheaper Keltec. Bastard. Wow. Sounds like a relatively good outcome for the cabbie, as he is left with only "problem #2" issues.
The good news for you is that your Utah permit (when you get it) will be valid in Nevada.

Got the fingerprint card for Utah on the same trip as dropping off my MN app.
The cabbie might actually end up in worse trouble for the one he hit with the car. Bad guy #2 ended up getting dragged about 2 blocks under the front of the car, so he ended up in worse shape than the one who was shot.

Any time I spend convincing someone to spend more money on guns and ammo I consider time well spent.

I have and carry fairly often a .40 Kahr. It's so comfortable that I forget I'm carrying it.
If you go this link you might notice something inside the belt of the gray haired "gentleman" painting his future's grandchild's room. It's hard to see, even uncovered.

Too damn bad for the BG. Occupational hazard for him, maybe when he gets out of the hospital/jail he will find a different occupation
For me the weapon is a Officers size 1911A1. My SA goes bang all the time, and .45 ACP. As others have said the belt/holster is the key. I carry a full size 1911 on occasion and is only a little more difficult to conceal than its' smaller brother.
