I was thinking I like the Beretta U22 for a plinking gun that is cheap to shoot. I am looking for a semi-auto that is reliable. Any Suggestions

I've allways ben a fan of the old Ruger .22 that looks like a luger, I've had 7 or 8 of em over the years.

Any of the big names should work. I use a S&W 22A and it works great with a red dot on it.

Recently I ordered a Browning Buckmark Camper in SS for a customer. I give it a basic inspection upon arrival, I was impressed.

If I were to get a 22 pistol, that would be my choice.

I still want to get one of these:

A .22lr version of BERSA's popular Thunder model.

I passed a stainless one up at a gunshow for $200.

Browning Buckmark. When I first held it in my hand to inspect it, I was convinced that it was the best manufactured pistol I have ever held.

They are even easy to clean.

10/22's have been around for a long time and there is a boatload of tweaks and stuff out there to jazz them up. The Charger is just a short barrel, pistol version of a much loved plinking rifle.

Ruger Charger - pretty much as plinking .22 as any thing could be.

Woah! I just undo the couple of alen screws, clean the barrel and then the action. Hmm I have not shot it in some time, I thought it was really that easy. Still not on the level of XDs or Glocks.

I don't know how far he tried to take it down. Or his IQ, although he handles a chainsaw like a pro.

I have a U22, i've put a couple thousand rounds through it without a major problem. I can think of a couple failure to loads with bulk pack loose rounds. I like my dad's Ruger MkII better, but for a gun I paid just over 200 for I am pleased with it. Cleaning is a bit of a bitch. In order to take the barrel off you have to use a thumbscrew that I find to be annoying, but not enough that I put off cleaning because of it.

I carry the .380 Bersa daily. But, I initially purchased the 22 cal Bersa which looks identical to the .380.

The 22 LR Bersa is nearly identical to the .380 and works well for 'low cost' ammo.

I like Bersa a great deal. The 22 does jam much more than the .380. Could be the crap ammo I run thru it.

I'd have to cast my vote for the Ruger Mark II. I had an older (50's vintage Mk 1) and traded it for a Mark II which I still have. I've fired thoudsands of rounds through them and have never had a problem except missfires due to fualty ammo (Winchester Wildcats)I've found the Ruger .22's to be very reliable, pretty accurate and very affordable.
