POLICE: Man 5 times legal limit during LRT crash

A Coon Rapids man faces several charges after police say he was nearly five times the legal limit when he crashed in a light rail train.
Greg Hartzell, 51, was charged with DWI and driving with an open bottle Monday.
Hartzell allegedly crashed his truck into the train at 34th Avenue near Interstate 494 in Bloomington last Thursday.
Police said Hartzell blew a .39.
In his truck, authorities found an open bottle of Smirnoff vodka, a rifle, and ammunition.

See, just having the lightrail is giving good people a target to drive into. This person would not have driven into the train if it had not been there. What's next a bus driver driving a bus into the train? Oh the children...

(Too early in the morning for me?)

Last night on the news they said police found a .22 revolver and 72 rounds under the seat. I wonder which one it was, the revolver or the rifle?

Maybe it was a Colt Model 1855 Revolver Rifle. These weren't made in 22 caliber though. More like 40 to 60 caliber.

Only 72 rounds? And for a .22? That's all!? I still haven't taken out the 200+ rounds of 12 Gauge shells I bought at Wal Mart a few months back.

Of course, I don't make it a habit to drive drunk into commuter trains, either. Nor do I make it a habit to drive drunk.

Actually, since I got my permit to carry, I can't recall the last time I've been drunk...

I'm pretty sure I have that much in my jacket pockets right now.

Yeah but that does not count. Your pockets are full of .357 not the dangerous .22 :P

Can I count what's in my car, too? That's probably another 3000 rounds, counting the deadly .22 round that can shoot through schools and knock airplanes out of the sky from 10 miles away.

That too, but I know for sure that I don't have 100 rounds of .357 in my jacket. Maybe 1 or two outside of a speedloader.

Ok. 100 .357 in the cargo pocket of your super duper 511 pants. Sorry I was not precise. :P

They really needed to mention the firearm and ammo. As if it were these items that caused him to collide with the choo choo, and not the .39 BAC.

What I really wanted to know (as a side note) is how many passengers were on this grossly subsidised POS.  Probably just as relevant. :!:

I'd take a wild guess that he had at least 30 rounds to every passenger on that boondoggle.

It is a good thing he didn't have two guns. It would have been called an arsenal.

It is exceedingly dumb to run rail on the same street with cars. Would it really have killed them to make it elevated? Underground is better, but probably more expensive.
