Let me start by saying I've been around awhile. I was born in the 1930's, saw the start of WWII and grew up in the 1950's.

I saw the best of this country during WWII. I had many of my relatives die fighting for freedom.

I have seen this country go from real freedom to where we are today and I am very worried that we are on the wrong path. It's not the Republicans or Democrats, both seem to be more interested in growing the Government than representing the people that elected them. It's all about the power to control us.

Sometimes I'm glad that I'm older and won't be around to face the loss of freedom that my grandchildren will see. At other times I find myself very angry that the country I served in the military has changed so much.

I helped to preserve the freedom that is being taken from us a little bit at a time. That makes me mad! I'm not advocating taking up arms against our government but I do think that everyone that sat on their butt during the last election should be ashamed.

One thing to remember, the greatest fear that politicians have is losing their job!!! We do have the power to change what we don't like in the voting booth. Too many today don't care, I say to them wake up!

I know I'm singing to the choir on this forum but thanks for letting me vent!

Thank you very much for sharing those thoughts Ramoel 8)

The problem as I see it is far too many people want something from government. They want the freebie, they feel that government owes them something. The systemic problem with this is the fact that government can "give" them things, but it comes with a cost. The cost borne is the sacrifice of Liberty. And with the loss of Liberty comes the loss of individual Freedoms. I believe that government has become the "Nanny State" and people continually demand more from it. They're likely to get their wishes; and at some point after that they'll realize all they have given up, irreparably.

I want a freebie, and the tax payers will thank me for this one. I want to be left the hell alone. "Government, get off my lawn"

Thanks for sharing Ron, touches a nerve in my heart too.
At probably half your age, a couple years back, I thought the same way, "hopefully I'll be gone by the time things get bad."
Now.. we'll I know I'll still be around, because it's here already and it boils my blood daily.
