Maybe the Congress should pass a law that apologizes for the existence of the United States of America.

We can cover everything in one fell swoop. :roll:

Of course any apology without a letter of resignation looks insincere. I think African Americans should be as offended as this Celtic-American. Yup, letters of resignation or public humiliation for being insincere about the badness of slavery. . .. those are the two options I propose for Congress. No third way.

:idea: Hey, has anybody ever thought of writing up a resignation letter for a public official (blank signature line), mailing it, a pen, and a card reading "thank you for your service, please sign" :?:

The only way to "fire" the government, is to overthrow it.

It may well come to that. meanwhile, humbling requesting that they do the right thing (resign) seems to be a better, less volitile direction.
