Sigh...had to put down our Shepherd after 8 great years last night. Bad hips and cancer left us no choice - she was the ultimate family pet for us and will be sadly missed...sigh

Sorry to hear that, losing a pet is always a tough thing.

Just know that you made the best choice for the both of you, and that those 8 years you had together you made her life so much happier as she did yours.

I'm really sorry to hear this -- I lost my cat of 13 years back in February and still mourn her.

My thoughts are with you and your family today.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Been there with two dogs in the past. Cremated the last one, he's here in a pet urn. Sorry to hear about your loss. :(

Part of loving them in doing the right thing. I've done it three times. It's always hard but also right.

My condolences.

My condolences also.

A favorite dog is a man's and families best friend. Take care.

It leaves you with a sad and empty feeling when you have to put down the dog that always gave you unconditional love. Sorry for your loss, I've been through it many times and I don't like to think about about it too much since I miss every dog I ever had...

You have my heartfelt sympathy and condolences. I truly know your loss. As your heart heals consider another pet to help fill the void left from the loss of your companion.

I'm sorry, it's tough - I had to do the same last winter. I'm not sure who missed him more - me or our other dog as they were close. It took a while for our other dog to come around but she did. We are going to get another dog to keep her and us company.
Good luck.

So sorry Ronin. Losing a pet (especially a dog) is very tough. They are the quiet companions that offer unconditional love. Dogs and their owners form a type of bond that is hard to describe, and like no other. And the fact that dogs are masters of reading body language, the way they can read and react to their masters just solidifies that bond even more.

R.I.P. Tara
