Well, considering the source song: Quote: Jesus loves the little children All the children of the world Black and yellow, red and white They're all precious in His sight Jesus loves the little children of the world
Whether you're rich or whether you're poor It matters not to Him He remembers where you're going Not where you've been
Jesus loves the little children All the children of the world Black and yellow, red and white They're all precious in His sight Jesus loves the little children of the world
If your heart is troubled Don't worry, don't you fret He knows that you have heard His call And he won't forget
Jesus loves the little children All the children of the world Black and yellow, red and white They're all precious in His sight Jesus loves the little children of the world
All around the world tonight His children rest assured That He will watch and He will keep us Safe and secure
Jesus loves the little children All the children of the world Black and yellow, red and white They're all precious in His sight Jesus loves the little children of the world
My being disturbed has more to do with songs being sung about religious figures in public school. If my kid can't speak freely about her Jesus in a government/public school . . . . the NEA shouldn't promote singing about their Jesus either. I am all for keeping religion out of schools & feel this song crosses that line.

If this song is just to welcome a president to the school, I think a few songs have already been written for that. The Star Spangled Banner, or My Country 'Tis of Thee come to mind. Or to get radical, how about God Bless America?

I'd be cool with any of the songs mentioned in the last two posts. All would be appropriate. Hail to the Chief particularly so.

Hail to the Thief, some have chosen for salvation Hail to the Thief, taking wealth from one and all Hail to the Thief, as he demands cooperation his pride and gall will break us all

It's one thing to honor the office of the President. It's entirely another to sing a politicized song that worships the man himself. It's "Hail to the Chief," not "Hail to Barack Obama."
I took the liberty of tweaking a few lines of the original lyrics. Don't rag on me for it -- I'm not saying I agree with everything in it or that it's entirely accurate. There is no danger of this being sung in any public school, and not just because I'm no Bernie Taupin:
Modified Lyrics ======== Song 1: Mm, mmm, mm! George Walker Bush
He said that all must get a job To keep this country going strong Mmm, mmm, mm! George Walker Bush
He said we must be fair today Equal opportunity means no affirmative action Mmm, mmm, mm! George Walker Bush
He said that we must take a stand To make sure every fetus gets a chance Mmm, mmm, mm! George Walker Bush
He said red, yellow, black or white All are equal in God's sight Mmm, mmm, mm! George Walker Bush
Yes! Mmm, mmm, mm George Walker Bush
Song 2: Hello, Mr. President we honor you today! For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!"
Hooray, Mr. President! You're number 43! The 43rd white American to lead this great nation!
Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans To kick the crap out of Islamo-fascism!
Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you! And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue!
So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick So here's a hearty hip-hooray ----
Hip, hip hooray! Hip, hip hooray! Hip, hip hooray!

The real world doesn't act like Limbaugh or Fox Network lackeys. They also welcome veterans on Veterans Day, and any other celeberty visitors. The celebrate Washington and Lincoln, who were also politicians. Twenty years ago nobody would object. Now that we all have to "take sides" it's objectionalble. I am not at all sure they celebrate Washington any more. He was white and he owned slaves. And the later post that basically substituted Gearge W. Bush's name for Barack Hussein Obama's made the point nicely. Never, never, never, would Dubya have been greeted with a special song like this one in any public school. At least none where the NEA runs things.

Quote: The real world doesn't act like Limbaugh or Fox Network lackeys. It appears that "the real world" has just two choices: Either act like these poor indoctrinated little kids, or else like Limbaugh or Fox News and their running-dog imperialist lackeys. Okay, but why leave out Hannity and Beck? Aren't they part of the whole right-wing cabal that's trying to take over AmeriKKKa and take our liberties away? But is there no middle course? Must we choose between one or the other?
