Hard to see in the auto-shrunk version.

But it's stupid.

(In Firefox, right click the image and hit "view image")

Magazine is in backwards. Should curve forward.

I read way too many post here. I was so fixated on her finger and the trigger that I could not see what was wrong. Took me at lease a full minute to figure it out… LMAO…

I've DLed it and looked at it in high zoom, and I'm not entirely convinced that she doesn't have two magazines clipped together, facing opposite directions.

I'm not saying she does, and I can't see any tape, but I can't completely rule it out.

You can see the grooves in the mag run all the way up to the mag well. What is holding it in the magwell is something that I just tried and couldn't get a loaded mag to stick in backwards.

Also look at what she is doing with her elbow. I don't know anything about shooting rifle, but I do know a thing or two about photography, and there you dig your elbows into your ribs to get better support.

Looks like her left forearm is missing or transparent and it looks like the hand on the forearm of the rifle is turned backwards.

Is that because it is behind the mag?

Some of it certainly is, but it still looks funny.

Her right index finger also looks it it belongs to E.T.

I think the picture looks very odd simply because of how incorrectly she is holding the rifle... and has the mag all messed up.

So maybe she is striving for a job as a EBay product holder... Just showing off the ahhh equipment - and it doesn't show as well with her elbow tucked in...

She should have went with the partially unzipped PD jumpsuit...

The image does look odd. The gun casts a shadow on her left forearm, which causes it to blend in with the background. She's got long, slim fingers, so they look a little strange too. And I think she's got a slightly awkward way of holding the rifle. When I shoot rifle, as someone1980 said, I like to get a bit of extra support by resting triceps against ribs. Maybe this doesn't work with a magazine that size in the way?

Any road, the backward magazine is weird. Reminds me of the H&K print ad I once saw in which the magazine was loaded with the bullets backward.

I don't think her left arm is long enough for the rib support hold. Right elbow out and high is a fairly common hold also.

The magazine looks to be upside down also. So two magazines clipped (not taped) together may be the answer. The apparent length of the magazine makes it appear to be outside the receiver. The "missing" piece of arm tends to lead me down the two magazines path, perhaps a portion of the shorter forward facing mag is blocking her arm from view.
On my DPMS and a friends Bushmaster, none of our magazines, 10, 20 or 30 round, would even start into the receiver, backwards or upside down. Not at all.
Despite the strangeness of the photo, (I am unable to track down any originals yet. It appears to be October 2005. Their online archives only go back to 2007. Has anyone found a better source for a higher res?) I think the officer has everything right. Perhaps she is moving forward and caught in mid stride or shuffle adding to some awkwardness in appearance.
