Hello all. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris Kosel (aka Harland) I am 50 years old, a veteran of the US Air Force and of the Army National Guard. I am also a Minnesota Certified Firearms Safety Instructor. I got my carry permit back in 2003 as soon as I could legally do it. Since then, my permit has expired, but I'm going back to class this month to get it "renewed". During the five years I had my permit, I actually didn't carry much at all oddly, but my mindset has kinda of changed, and I think in a weird kinda way, that like voting, it is my civic duty to do so. I guess to me it is kind of like free speech or any other freedoms. I don't want to lose it so I'm going to use it. I currently own an East German Makarov and I've got some money down on a new Ruger LCP. Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hi!

I kinda wish I lived in Faribault; I drive a couple hours round trip every Wednesday in the summer (starting May 20th!) to shoot IDPA down there. When I first got a defensive handgun I figured I should maybe actually practice with it, and IDPA is so fun that I actually do. I think a Makarov could work in IDPA, but you'd probably end up wanting to get a Glock or a 1911 or something...

Anyway welcome aboard, Happy Mother's Day & see ya around.

Pat

Hey I told him that already! :)

Westhope runs the Back Up Gun side matches, where you could try out your LCP when you get it.

I've been curious about the IDPA thing. Perhaps I'll come watch you guys in action and eventually take a "shot" at it myself.

Watching is free. (Well, at least until you get hooked and then it gets expensive as you want.)

It seems to have loosened up a little, Fleet farm had a bunch of Blazer. Like lots of guys, I've started reloading this year, but there's a shortage of components too. I figure I'll run out of primers by July if I don't find some.

Welcome Harland. I just recently became a member of the Faribault Gun club.
Pat, I'm going to run down and watch some of the IDPA stuff. At least until I cant stand it any longer and have to join the fun.
I heard your name come up in conversation at a couple of South lunches. (all good I promise) I look forward to meeting you.

Welcome.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that you will come down to watch the IDPA shoot. You will then be sorry you didn't bring your gear to shoot and will have to try to borrow some gear to shoot.

Just bring your stuff, there will be more than enough shooters that will be more than happy to help you.
