Jut read the following interesting fact:

Quote:
Only the states of California, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York have no mention at all of the keeping or bearing of arms in their state constitutions.

Has anyone ever introduced an amendment that would change this here in Minnesota? Would it serve any purpose now that Heller is law?

Yes; a RKBA has been introduced each of the last couple of years, at least.

Every version I have seen was watered down, and more restrictive than the one in the US Constitution.

You can't pass a bill protecting ones rights when Democrats are in charge.

Guess we'll have to change that ASAP.

Am I wrong in thinking the MCPPA passed (twice) in a DFL-controlled state Senate?

ETA: Or, for that matter, that the current REPUBLICAN administration has been bending us over for years now on reciprocity...

No man is safe when the legislature is in session (paraphrase)

In the name of power and seeming to "do something", both sides have been willing to do some horrible things to our rights.

Exactly my point. Sure, the DFL locally and the Democrats nationally have done some seriously screwed up stuff, gun-wise. That said, they've hardly got a patent on it.

BTW, the quote is:

"No man's life, liberty, or property are safe when the Legislature is in session."
--Judge Gideon J. Tucker, 1884

I will say that in spite of many Democrat "antis", McMcain himself is oddly no great lover of the 2d amendment in spite of his military background. And the fine men in Montana challenging the Interstate Commerce deal are Democrats. So ... ?

In charge power means a Democratic President. Lately all of them are anti gun, anti personal freedom. Sure some Republicans to, but Democrats are worse
You get the idea

Both stink, just one of them a hell of a lot more.

I'll grant you that one. I do, however, feel the urge, at least in MN politics, to differentiate between the Metrocrats (who are nice folks, most of them, just mistaken about guns) and the outstate DFL, who I think are far more sensible on the gun issue.

I'd love to see the Metrocrats take a 2 hour boat ride with Gilligan; actually, if they could take about 98% of congress and the senate with them we'd all be alot better off.
