I knew exactly what I was going to see when I clicked into this thread... but you may want to add a ***Graphic Image*** warning to your title.

Yes, it was a self inflicted hunting accident. I saved the picture but don't remember if it was a rifle or a shotgun.

Yeah, that should be mandatory viewing at all Minnesota hunter safety classes.

I'm sure that will bring the 11-year old girls through the door in droves.
We had an elderly gentleman who donated one of his old hunting boots to our class and we use that to great effect. It's a little less gory.
(We had him come to the class once and he was just dying to take his shoes off and show everyone his wound and then he started telling stories about killing timber wolves.)

There used to be quite a few 'accident pics' shown during the firearms safety class I took as a teenager.......roughly at age 13/14 (Damn! That was many moons ago ).
Most were black and white photos. I guess that they're not as 'vivid' as color photos?........
The ones that stick out in my mind from those days, is the ones where a rabbit 'twitched' after being tossed into the back seat of a car (on top of the firearm), with the shotgun that had shot it.
Unfortunately, 'firearm safety' is the farthest thing from some peoples minds when handling guns.

Well, I don't know when you took drivers Ed., but when I took it in California we got to watch some pretty gory films highlighting what stupid driving might result in. These kids need to know just how serious this gun business really is. Can we afford to sugar coat things? Just wait; this Fall another poor kid will get shot by their Dad or vice-versa.

Unfortunately, given the 'track record' of MN..............I'd say that you're right.
Too many lives are lost each year due to 'hunting accidents'.

Actually, Minnesota has a very good record even as numbers of licenses sold climbs. And lately, a very good record since classes have been made mandatory for anyone born after 1979.
It was either '06 or '05 where we had ZERO hunting related firearm fatalities.
EDIT - OK I looked it up. It was 2004 where we had no fatalities. The numbers of fatalities are so small as to be almost insignificant. The Light-rail train is nearly just as dangerous.
Minnesota Hunting Fatalities
2008 2
2007 2
2006 4
2005 3
2004 0
2003 1
2002 2
