Just wondering if anyone knows?

Knowing this is not overly helpful the answer is it depends. Here is a portion of the holsters rule:

F. Can have no offset backpieces and/or belt slots. The holster
may not offset away from the belt and/or body. No gap is
permitted in the following areas:
1. From the body to the inside of the belt.
2. From the outside of the belt to the inside of the
backpiece and/or backside of the holster.
3. From the outside of the backpiece to the inside of
the holster.
If you look through the belt slot area of the holster with it on
the belt/body, you should not be able to see any daylight. If
you can see through this belt tunnel area, the holster is not
approved.
Holster/backpiece must be constructed of “normal thickness”
common holster making materials, no filler is allowed to hide
an offset. In simple terms, the back of the holster must be held
tightly against the outside of the belt for proper concealed carry
(for questions, refer to #1 above and re-read the “Purpose”
section in the front of this rulebook).¹
G. Must be constructed of normal thickness common holster
making materials (leather, Kydex, plastic, nylon, etc.).

Given the above it depends on the Safety Officer and Match Director. If it sticks way out, its a no go. At club matches, a little offset might be OK or result in a use it today, but get a new one by next match ruling.

I have one Fobus holster and have to about rip my pants off to draw from it. IT fits the Glock 17 and is for sale, cheap, in like new condition. The IDPA rule book is on the website at www.idpa.com

I wouldn't use a Fobus for anything except maybe hunting. Even then, thats's questionable. Drawing the gun usually is pretty awkward. I've even pulled the entire holster out of my trousers when drawing using a Fobus paddle holster. It was still attached to the gun.

I'll second that. I have one Fobus holster for my Glock 23 and unless you draw STRAIGHT up, which is hard to do when you are trying to draw with any speed at all, the gun will NOT release from the holster.

Unless they say something im going to keep using it until blackhawk comes out with there serpa holster later this spring towards summer. Right now they only have H& K compact's they dont have any Full framed USP ones yet. I talked to the blackhawk rep he said that they are working on it b/c the Mlps swat team is screaming for them. I will just need to crank my belt tigher so i dont rip my pants off when trying to draw

You could try removing a very small amount of material in the trigger guard area of your holster. I haven't done it, but I know some who shoot leagues in Faribault have done it to their Fobus holsters because their Glock's would not come out without a lot of effort.

While I don't use a Fobus any more, I used to...a heat gun applied in the trigger guard retention area and a small amount of pressure prying it open serves to loosen it up nicely.

To be sure I made the new IDPA rules, a buddy and I did a lot of work with hot water and a heat gun on the Fobus and it is so wanked up that it is now useless...it's OD in color, so looks very striking as it lazes in the holster box....heh!
