My motto:

The bigger the better.

If I could haul around a mini gun, I would. Oh, say a 20 mm M61 Vulcan for example.

(I'm hoping a .50 cal. GI is under the tree. I've been a good boy (Mrs.) Santa, honest.)

While I carry a .45 I think the 9mm has plenty of penetration (see link). Some people just have hard heads. I know a Minneapolis SWAT officer that fired a 3 round burst from an MP5 into someone’s head and none of the rounds penetrated. He ended up shooting him in the groin, breaking his hip and stopping the guy from killing him. BTW, there is some great stuff on Box of Truth. He has put quite a few myths to rest.

AS posted under another thread - while ballistics is a science it is not an exact science. there are things that happen that just cannot be explained.

9mm is a terribly powerful weapon (and yes it is dont make any mistake)

I can shoot through a NIJ2 Vest - 6" of Roma Plastolina Clay @ 72 degrees F - and 4" of Pine without any trouble whatsoever. With Factory Ammunition and a G17 (not a remote man gun - not a 20" bbl - but a standard duty weapon.)

If you think that 9x19mm is no sweat at all - BIG MISTAKE.

While a 45 is king against soft tissue - the 9mm is no laughing matter either.

MP5SD actually - take a 9mmx19 and slow it to 380 auto ballistics and - THERE YOU HAVE IT.
