Illinois State Patrol offers advice which sounds like an advertisement to criminals that the women of Illinois are gullible and easy prey. Feel free to pick it to pieces.

As one friend said, the teasing comb advice could very well lead to the line, "Stand back or I'll muss your hair!"

Really? ... that's a scary statistic but since 78.356% of all statistics are pure Bovine Excrement until backed by the raw data, source data, and a valid method of their generation, I call BS

Why don't they just say:

Give them what they want. Roll over and pray it doesn't take too long

Bastards!

what I'd like to see them say:
Aside from a HANDGUN carried on body, or your Back Up Handgun, Articles common to your handbag that make useful defense weapons.

* nail file
* rat tail comb
* teasing brush
* pens and pencils
* keys
* anything rigid

Concentrate on these areas only when combating an assailant.

groin
eyes
ears
nose
throat

Two shots to each of these makes sense to me.

Easily the stupidest advice I've ever heard. Every man knows a woman will strike at the groin. And once she makes it clear she's going after his face too, he'll easily have those covered. An effective unarmed defense diversifies strike targets so that some or most get through, preferring quick disabling strikes (e.g. say goodbye to your knee) over merely distracting ones (e.g. experience some temporary groin pain).

Try a quick shot to his pride. "Wow, that's small! It's cute!"

Or... center mass~

"Half of all women...(using a gun) shoot (the wrong person) WOW!

I wonder if men do any better at shooting the right people..... Somebody should be all over that statemenmt.

I'd like to be able to ask for his source on that statistic. If it was any other subject but guns the politicaly correct crowd would be all over that. As they should.

Remember that screaming may be just as important to your defense as any weapon.

According to Gary Kleck's research, screaming is the best thing to do if you want to get robbed AND beaten senseless.

I like the part about vomiting. I must try that sometime.

An empty J-frame or Kel-tec P32 (after you empty them into the perp) would work extremely well. If that does not work, pistol whip him! :twisted:

I really don't like the groin shot advice. Guys protect them, and if they're hit it tends to piss guys off. Don't waste your time, but the knee's, as Tick said, I agree with completely. Good target.

Cut off the ability to breath, see, move or remain conscious and you have a pretty effective defense. Eyes, nose and throat sound good. The ears I hear good things about, but I've never been willing to have my ears boxed firmly. I hear bad things about the results. Can anyone comment on the ears?
